Why do people hate realtors?

I am a Realtor in Oregon and I think much of the feeling toward realtors comes from the actions of some (many) years ago. Realtors used to be equated with used car salesmen (sorry!) Fortunately there are many more laws and requirements for Realtors now which reduced the number of complaints. One thing I do know is that the number 1 complaint about Realtors is that they don't stay in touch with their client. This is especially important to sellers when they are not having many showings of their home. Realtors need to discuss the situation with the sellers in an honest straight forward manner. Most important is that Realtors MUST have their clients interest at heart. Once a Realtor puts their clients interest after their own, they are no longer effective or beneficial to their client.
