Usb trouble with my ipod?

i have a 32gb ipod touch generation 4, i got it second hand from my sister. i plug it into my computer and it works perfect. but i plug it into a stereo or Speakers or tv using usb and its not recognised at all, but my old ipod nano worked perfect in the usb systems mentioned above. anyone no how i can fix this? maybe there is a setting or something i can change......i put this question up before, and someone answered that it could be the usb systems im using are to old for a 2011 ipod, but i tried it in a bran new flat screen LG tv, it didn't work even tho it worked with the ipod nano. please someone help me, there isn't any point me even having an ipod if it doesn't work on simple usb systems lol
