Dog with bad wind help?

i have a 2 yr old staffie, we got him for the rescue centre 3 days ago, we have been feeding him dry complete food but he has the worst wind i have ever know, he is constantly farting and the smell makes me want to vomit. any advice on why he is doing this or what i can try to reduce his breaking wind?
